Romania’s former Defense Ministry official embroiled in arms trade to Iran

A former employee of the Ministry of Defense will be extradited to the United States pending charges of allegedly trading arms to Iran, Romanian daily Romania-Insider.com wrote January 15. “Romanian Aurel F is accused of selling equipment for airplanes in Iran, and he became a target for the US authorities, which asked for support in the Romania authorities considering the Romanian has used his companies to do business,” Romania-Insider.com wrote.

The verdict to extradite Aurel F was passed by the Bucharest Court of Appeals after an investigation by the domestic intelligence service SRI and the Organized Crime and Terrorism Investigation Directorate (DIICOT).
