Bulgarian power company Energo-Pro fined for abuse of market position

Bulgarian energy company Energo-Pro Grid AD was fined by consumer watchdog, the Commission for Protection of Competition (CPC), to the tune of BGN 266,000 for engaging in unfair market practices.

“Bulgaria’s Commission for Protection of Competition has imposed a BGN 266,000 fine on Energo-Pro Grid AD for the abuse of a dominant market position,” Bulgarian news agency novinite.com reported on Jan. 27.

An investigation into Energo-pro found that the company was hindering the entry of renewable energy companies onto the market. This was deemed detrimental to consumer interests.

The CPC probed the energy supplier after a complaint from solar energy company V2M.
