Terrorists operate in Poland

Poland remains safe as a country, but there are alarming signs of cooperation between Poles and the Islamic State (IS), Gen. Dariusz Łuczak, head of the Polish Internal Security Agency (ABW) claimed, according to the Polish newspaper Rzeczpospolita.

“We are monitoring several tens of people,” the general said, explaining that the people are usually Poles, who years ago emigrated to Germany or Norway, where they converted to Islam and from where they have relocated to fight in the name of the IS. The ABW is also closely monitoring foreigners living in Poland who are known to have travelled to areas that lie within the IS.

The general also revealed that the ABW has identified a so-called logistics support unit of the IS, located in the Podlasie region. According to the paper, the unit operated among the Chechen diaspora.

The logistics support unit, the general explained, is the supply network for the terrorists. “It is a group of people, who organize the financial means, prepare the venues for rest and curation. We are familiar with cases in which wounded IS soldiers have been placed in Polish private hospitals.”

The general stated also that at the end of May several people were detained on charges of organizing logistic support for terrorists. The people in question remain in arrest.
