New Ukrainian president Petro Poroshenko to sell chocolate factory

The newly elected president of Ukraine and a billionaire Petro Poroshenko, whose wealth was estimated by Forbes at USD 1.3 billion, promised that he will sell his business, the confectionery factory Roshen.

“Immediately after the presidential elections the agreement to sell the confectionery group Roshen will be signed with an investment company,” Poroshenko said.

Petro Poroshenko, who won the presidential elections on May 25 with 54 percent of votes, was regarded as one of the Ukraine’s oligarchs and the country’s ‘Chocolate King.’

Apart from Roshen, Poroshenko owns several car and bus factories, a shipyard Leninskaya Kuznia and a TV channel, Channel 5, he does not intend to sell.

“Channel 5, the property that also belongs to me, will not be sold,” Poroshenko said at a press-conference.
